Longtime MLB manager (and current scout for the Atlanta Braves) died in a Miami hospital following a heart attack, according to LA Times' Mike DiGiovanna on Twitter:

Fregosi was a pretty good shortstop in the 1960s, too, though he's perhaps best remembered as the guy the Mets traded Nolan Ryan (and three other players) for.

    Fregosi was 71.

Real good minor league manager with the Louisville Redbirds in the early 80s. RIP.

If this doesn't bring Chris Jones back, nothing will.

Important clarification from Dennis Gilbert: Jim Fregosi was taken off life support in Miami hospital. Thought he had died. So sorry.

Again, many apologies to Jim Fregosi's family. To reiterate: Jim was taken off life support in Miami hospital after suffering stroke.

It boggles the mind how often people fuck up death notices now.

It really does. You can't take that one back -- you'd better make damn sure your sources are on the record and impeccable. Too many people don't get that.
