    His greatest legacy might be the outstanding pizza joint in Mountain Brook, Alabama, named for him (but not owned by him).

    Eaten there many times. There's a lifesize Jim Davenport baseball card hanging right above the cash register.

    I love the pizza at Davenports. The decor does not look like it has been changed since 1974. Hell, last time I was in there I saw dust bunnies in the wrought iron that looked like *they* had been there since 1974.

    Steak, you might try Reyes Pizza on Kilgore Memorial Parkway in Irondale, on the hill across from Sam's Club. Little Mexican family owned place, which sounds unlikely, but the pizza is fabulous.
