RIP Jani Lane

    Can't believe I'm the one who has to start this thread, but with BYH on sabbatical, etc. ...

    Though I grew up right smack dab in the middle of the hair metal era, I don't have much nostalgia for it. Most of that music is formulaic, manipuled-by-record-companies-for-sales driven crap.

    That said, Warrant seemed to have some fun with it. There was no pretension in them. They didn't come off as fake slick as bands like Slaughter did. Even I enjoyed Cherry Pie and its famous video, one that laughed at the band as much as it did the audience, though Lane himself hated the song with a passion.

    Which led to one of the best Behind The Music moments ever.
