RIP, Jan Hooks

I would have to rate her in the top 3 women of SNL's all-time team.

 

I agree, and this could be fun. The other candidates, to me:

Gilda Radner
Jane Curtin
Julia Sweeney
Nora Dunn
Amy Poehler
Maya Rudolph
Kristen Wiig

Tina Fey, my girl, is an interesting case. If you include her writing tenure, she's on the list, but as a performer, she didn't do much memorable other than Update and Palin. If we're ranking the best post-SNL careers, she's up there with a bullet with Poehler and JLD.

 

There are rumors of prednisone, which would hint at cancer or any other number of disorders. And would explain the greatly altered appearance.
Didn't she once date Kevin Nealon?
What a fox she was.

 

I was going to say babe but fox applies too.

You know some girls are cute, others pretty and beautiful. But Jan was straight-up foxy.

 

You include Fey's writing she's No. 1 with a bullet. And there's NO One else close.

No Molly Shannon? Really?

I don't think a lot of the earlier women (pre-1990s) were that funny.

She was amazing as Dixie Glick, wife of Jiminy, in the Glick Show and movie (LaLaWood Fables)

Yeah, interestingly, they were finished as a couple by the time Hooks joined SNL.

 

Beyond doubt one of the top 10 sketches in SNL history.

 

Somebody said there was a row between her and Victoria Jackson- probably the least talented of that troupe.
