RIP Ike Pappas, CBS News

    Yeah, I call myself a student of history.
    I love all aspects of history and watch tons of A&E-type TV.

    Lived in Dallas 5 years and examined Dealey, plus all things Kennedy, tons of times.
    Worked at D.Times Herald prior to it closing.
    Just wasn't familiar with Pappas.

    Had a resume that extended well past 11/22-25/63, as well. Covered the Pentagon for much of the Vietnam war, I recall.

    Ike Pappas was a CBS correspondent when it was the best news network, hands down. I remember him accompanying a patrol in Vietnam, when they were ambushed, and he was also at Kent State.

    He was great. It's screwed up the way CBS showed him the door like they did their other aging talent.

    For those of you who weren't around - which I'm assuming is the majority of this board - could you imagine being a national news journalist between, say, 1963-75? There must not have been such a thing as a slow news day.
