Pappas was among those in the Dallas PD underground garage when Oswald was shot.

Is he a big enough boy to be considered the third in the Don LaFontaine-Jerry Reed trifecta?

CBS News, from my perspective and from what I've read or glimpsed thru footage, was the best of the Big 3 networks at covering the news.

I was not familiar with Mr. Pappas until now.

    Jesus wept.

That's like a ball player saying he wasn't aware of Stan Musial.

I wouldn't know him by name.

But I wasn't alive for his noteworthy moment, either.

History is a great teacher. The younger you are, the more history you need to know.

I know that Jim Lehrer was dictating from the Parkland phone.... Know the incredible story of the Zapruder tape left and right.... been to Dealey and the Depository twice.... Know Jack Ruby was in the back of the room during the police press conference... and that in the famous pic of LBJ getting sworn in, Jack Valenti is tucked in the left side of the pic... and J.D. Tippett.... and the Kennedy-Lincoln odd coincidence list.... And Walter Cronkite taking off his glasses and tearing up... And JFK Jr.'s salute....

    Just not Ike Pappas.
