Oh, damn. Loved her voice. Had no idea she was Australian until much later. RIP for sure.

This 8-track was played a ton in our family car. What a voice.

RIP. Like Corky Ramirez, I hadn't realized all these years that she was Australian.
One of my favorite live-action Disney movies when I was a kid was the original "Pete's Dragon," which she starred in. She had some terrific musical numbers in that.

"Angie Baby" is one of the creepiest hit songs ever recorded, when you examine the lyrics.

She had incredible range and should be remembered for way more than just "I Am Woman."

My grandparents lived next to the old Diplomat Hotel in South Florida. Used to play pinball in the gameroom. So one night I'm looking for the restroom and wander through a door. Next thing I know I'm just offstage in the theater, and Helen Reddy's about twenty feet away, singing for a packed house.

Her "I Don't Know How to Love Him" was very well done.

Eclipsed, however, by Agnetha Fältskog's Swedish version.

She was a pure pop singer just about when that started to become an insult of sorts, but Bob Dylan, John Lennon or Woody Guthrie would have killed to ever have written such a slam dunk political anthem.

The early to mid Seventies were the final few years of that glorious stew when you could turn on the radio, and in any given half hour, hear Elton John, Mac Davis, David Bowie, Curtis Mayfield, Led Zeppelin, John Denver and Alice Cooper. And Helen Reddy. On the same station.

But then people started to get snooty ... snotty.
