That was my first thought too... But wasn't it SHER-man... Teee... POT-ter

One of my favorite shows of all time, and frankly, old-MASH, new-MASH... didn't matter.

The general's name was Hamilton Bradford Steele, that's three e's in Steele.

    RIP, Harry.

You too? I've been thinking of that since I heard that Harry Morgan died.

Matt beat me too it on identifying the character as General Steele.

Dooley raises a great point. He really was the best thing about the second half of the series.

Like Matt, I didn't have the problem with the later years of M*A*S*H others did. I still considered it one of the finest shows in the history of TV. And if some of it included Alda sermonizing ... well, the subjects were usually worth sermonizing over.

    RIP Sherm. You'll be missed.
Great pulls by steak and shotglass (and Chef stole the line I was going to use)

Agreed. Just as long as it wasn't After-MASH. That series was awful.

Yeah, I'm down with that. That absolutely took the worst parts of M*A*S*H and put it together in one neat package.

Another favorite... don't remember the lines, but the episode...

When his horse was stolen by the old Korean soldier; when he found it; when he gave it to the old man; and when his daughter returned it.

Loved him getting lost in the catacombs in "What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?"

    "Aha! My lucky helmet!"

"I take it we don't have to leave."

"Only the general does. In a rubber truck."

    "I can't disobey a three-star general"
    "But he's a two-star looney"

Gen. Steele inspecting the troops, looking at Frank Burns:
    "NH"
    "NH sir?"
"Nose hairs, I'll know what it means"

Also love the scene where Steele tells Col. Blake that a tongue-depressor found on the ground can be reused to eliminate waste.
