This day should remind those who need reminding that the greatest Brave of them all ain't Chipper Jones.

Hank Aaron. Warren Spahn. Then Chipper, probably. Ahead of Eddie Mathews and Rabbit Maranville.

Rabbit Maranville has to be higher on the strength of his name alone.
I might also suggest that Maddux and Smoltz might stand above Chipper.

Smoltz maybe. Maddux didn't play his whole career with the Braves, like Chipper did, so that drops him a smidge in my book. Glavine is way up there too, because his Mets' years were way past his prime. And we can't forget Brad Komminsk or frank Tepidino.

Can I get a second for Rowland Office?

I dare to suggest Dale Murphy was a 'greater Brave' than Larry Jones.

Agreed. Two-time MVP who put up big numbers before they were fashionable.

Yes on Murphy. Total brain fart. Not sure he tops Chipper, but he was second-favorite Brave from the TBS days, after Glenn Hubbard.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, it's a tough list to draw.

I just think without Murphy there's no fan base to make Jones a national star. And without Hank Aaron there's none of that either, as he helped build the franchise post-career.

still boggles my mind that he’s not in the Hall of Fame. he was clearly considered on of the very best players in baseball from 1982-87.
