Saw the Eagles at Rich Stadium in 1975. Standing with my arms around my then-girlfriend, swaying during "The Best of My Love: and "Ol' 55" are a memory burned into my brain.

Their version of "Ol' 55" is another good one ... as someone else noted, "On the Border" is a solid album overall.

Overall, Eagles albums are great road-trip music. Especially out West.

With this news I have an urge to find Miami Vice on TV. I think it's on somewhere in reruns.

I love their version of "Ol' 55." After performing it during their 1999 millenium concert, Glenn Frey talked about how Tom Waits eventually came around to the Eagles covering his song:
"Tom didn't really like our version of 'Ol' 55' when it first came out. Then he got the check. Since then, Tom and I, we're really close." :D

There's a hole in the world tonight.

I don't claim to be the biggest Eagles fan ever, but I'm just amazed at how their music really holds up so well. Stuff they released 40 years ago still sounds so fresh compared to what's being put out nowadays.

And for the summer of '88, Frey toured and performed with Little River Band. Between the Eagles and LRB, Frey performed with two of the greatest bands ever at delivering great, great harmonies.

I got sick of my job, sick of my wife
Sick of my future and sick of my life
I packed up my car and I got some gas
And told everybody they could kiss my ass

    I'm goin' to Partytown
    (Yeah, yeah)
    I wanna party down
    (Yeah, yeah)
    I wanna have some fun
    I wanna fool around
    I'm goin' to Partytown

    RIP Glenn. So many memories.

Which allows me to post this. Beautifully written song. Love the way they invoked the memories of Glenn Miller and Cole Porter. Perfect video.
