George Gaynes, who was the commandant of many, many, many Police Academy movies and played the adoptive dad on Punky Brewster died at 98.

Also was one of the stars in Tootsie.

Always enjoyed the Police Academy films, and watching him start out as the grumpy old man in Punky with a soft heart.

    RIP

“The two things an actor dreads most are children and
dogs,” he told The Times in 1984. “I have both in this series.”

    That's a great legacy quote.

Single man in dingy apartment in Chicago gets clearance to adopt unrelated pre-pubescent girl. Uh-huh, nothing fishy there.

    Oh, and RIP.

Damn, just when we were about to appoint him as Abe Vigoda's replacement.
