RIP Freddie Solomon

    He was a great 49er; the deep threat on the '81 & '84 SB Champ. teams. (ah for a Freddie Soloman on this year's team.) Heard that Eddie DeBartolo helped drive him to his medical appointments and spent a lot of time with Solomon in the last year. DeBartolo really did/does care about his players. RIP Freddie.

    This turned out to be the "personal matter" that kept DeBartolo away from the Super Bowl when his HOF candidacy was being debated.

    Ah. Thanks. I of course loved DeBartolo because he brought 5 championships but aside from Halas and Paul Brown, find it hard to see how an owner belongs in the HOF.
