RIP Eunice Kennedy Shriver

    Nobody did more to drive the astounding growth of Special Olympics the last several decades than Eunice, who was founder of the games. Huge heart.

    Not to be cynical, but part of me wonders if the Kennedy family's participation in Special Olympics has to do with guilt for what their parents did to their sister.

    Sometimes the motivation doesn't matter...

    I would not disagree with MG's assessment. What happened to Eunice's sister was unspeakable. I am no fan of the Kennedy Family's politics (post-RFK) but I consider Eunice Kennedy Shriver to have lived a most remarkable life -- between the tradegy of seeing two brothers assassinated, one brother and sister lost in plane crashes, another sister turned into an invalid...and she still rose above it all to leave a real legacy for so many in the world.
