Funny thing is Broglio was a lot better than people remember him and Brock wasn’t nearly as good as people thought.

Yeah, I'd say that was a lopsided trade.

Do you mean before the trade or after? Because Broglio had an ERA of well over 5.00 in Chicago and was out of baseball three years after the trade.

And what about Brock are people remembering too fondly?

    Before the trade.

As for Brock, a lot of casual fans don’t remember he struck out way too much; rarely walked and got caught stealing a lot more than people realized.

Broligo got hurt, and that’s among the reasons why the trade worked for the Cardinals and didn’t for the Cubs.

I believe he said in an interview a few years back that the trade was a product of the times -- if it had happened in the last couple of decades the medicals would have killed the deal

Looks like he got a bit better after the trade.

He's still maybe the worst modern player in the Hall not named Harold Baines.

If you are including Vets Committee picks, depending on your definition of modern, he might not be top 10 worst.

Bill Mazeroski (.260, 138 HR, top 10 in MVP voting once) says hi. If not for a one-game playoff and one wonderful swing, does anybody even know who he is?
Brock accounted for 10% of the entire NL's stolen base count by himself once and more than 8% in three or four other seasons. Retired with a Major League career record.
