Interesting that he beat out Spencer Tracy, who played the hero in Blackrock, for the Oscar in 1955's Marty.

Blackrock was the first movie a friend of mine brought up, saying it was one of his favorite scenes in his eyes because of the beating Spencer Tracy gave Borgnine's character in that movie.

Amazing how that movie holds up, too. We watched it several months ago. You described it perfectly. It is a beautiful movie, and he played the role beautifully.

First thing I remember him in is a movie about Vince Lombardi.

    Resemblance was amazing.

I truly thought he'd been dead for some time. Guess not. RIP.

Milwaukee will have it on A1 ... EB was a fixture in the city's Great Circus Parade.

"Marty" is an absolute favorite of mine... A true reflection of how unknowingly patronizing family and friends can be if one goes long into adulthood unattached.

Great guest appearance on Magnum PI, too.

RIP Hamden, CT's own. 'Bout time we spruce up his memorial park, which essentially is a sign and a bush.

A tremendous actor. He could do it all, convincingly, effortlessly.
