You're probably familiar with the Empire Carpet guy and jingle ("588-2300--EMPIRE") if you ever watched a Cubs game on WGN from about 1978 on. The Empire Carpet guy died at age 89.

As soon as I saw the thread title, I heard the jingle.

Alas, the flooring-related jingle for my children's generation is "773-202... (beep-BEEP-beep-BEEP) LUUUUNAAAAAA"

Same here with the jingle. Talk about a "songwriting" hook ...

Of course, this guy's WGN commercial was hard to get out of your head, too:

"Rock a bye your baby ..."

I always like the little "thump" at the end of the 2300-Empirrrree jingle.

    RIP.

In Cleveland it was "Garfield 1 2323, Garfield 1 2323."

Not just the thump, but the TODAY emphasis, too.
