Watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show the other night and seeing a lot of the late night guys' band members playing back up I was thinking about how it's cool some of these people can have really great careers without being "Rock Stars."

I think Duck Dunn fits that. Lots of fantastic music over an amazing career, even if he's not a household name.

I hope schiezainc is taking the news well.

He's been having a tough time ever since he heard of Buddy Holly's death.

Saw him with Clapton once. Good stuff.

RIP to a great musician, and thanks to my fellow posters who linked some great footage. I know Dunn and Cropper mainly from the Blues Brothers movie and it was eerie seeing those two when they were so young and cleaner cut.

Oh, and finally I can place the title "Green Onions" with the tune, which I've heard countless times. Five seconds after that video started, I went "Oh, so that's what that tune is called."

I just hope that his funeral captures the Holy Spirit of the thing.

I must have watched Blues Brothers 300 times on TBS when I was a kid. I LOVE that movie and Dunn's big hair and pipe were so cool. RIP, indeed.

He didn't actually play on the original recording of "Green Onions," but he did play on most of the big Stax-Volt hits and he could play the bass better than almost anybody on the planet. RIP.

The Magitones will never sound the same at the Holiday Inn.

Let's hope the amps upstairs are covered in thick red shag.
