    This is not hard to understand. You want to take the Californians' money, you take the risk that you will have to pay out even if someone commits suicide after 2 years. A life insurance policy is only a contract that the insurers draft. Why there is some sympathy for the insurance company is befuddling.

    He had multiple life insurance polices worth hundreds of thousands ONLY? Jeez, my buddies and I pay for policies well into 7 figures nowadays to protect our spouses and family.

    Do you have whole life policies or term life policies? The latter are generally much larger.

    Not sure how old you are, but a guy Cornelius’ age likely didn’t need term policies any more and just had the smaller whole life policies left. Not uncommon.
