Damn. One of my favorites. And now, thanks to events of the past couple of weeks, my RIP batting average is solidly above the Mendoza like and approaching .250.

I was an early Cranberries adopter. Heard John Peel play a few of their early songs on BBC Radio One in ‘91 or ‘92 when I was visiting the UK.

"Dreams" was their best hit, "Linger" right behind.

"Dreams" was used in a Britt Marling indie sci-fi movie called "Sound of My Voice" a few years ago to creepy effect.

The acoustic version of "Zombie" has been in deep rotation for me for a long time.

I will really, really miss her voice. And they way she says "Zombie" when introducing the song here ... well ...

The Zombie video was in heavy rotation on MTV my freshman year of college.

The Cranberries seemed to be a group people either loved or hated - no in between. I loved them and loved that voice. This news saddens me. RIP

Yeah. I liked Dreams a lot too.

But, I can't stress how much I hated Zombie.

Every time wife drags me into Home Goods it seems "Dreams" is playing in the background. Unfortunately, Cranberries are not on the rotation at any of the other half-dozen places she shops at.

I had never heard of them until one day I was surfing YouTube videos of my favorite tennis player. One of them used "Just My Imagination" as the background music. Was a fan from that day.
