    His book was a very nice read. He had a long road to recovery, but was able to walk again and inspired a lot of people.

    One of the best wins in Jets franchise history was when New York, who was just 3-9, beat the AFC champion Bills in Buffalo the week after Byrd was paralyzed.

    As I recall, he and kicker Cary Blanchard were good friends, and Blanchard just died in early September.

    Awful. He was an inspiration for a whole lot of people.
