RIP David Carr

Apparently had battled cancer for years. Mentioned it in his book in 2008.

Autopsy shows New York Times writer Carr died of lung cancer

 

I'm stunned that his cancer was at a stage where it was bad enough to kill him, yet he was in the office when he collapsed.

 

Tony, I don't know that it was cancer that actually got him in the end.

 

Are you just saying his heart gave out, or are you hinting at something else?

He looked like skin and bones in pictures from the event on the evening he passed away. Cancer would certainly explain that.

 

I wondered that too. Dick are you doubting the coroner report?

 

I think what Dick is saying is that you don't normally see people walking around and just dropping dead from cancer.

 

Well, sure. And, between the cancer, whatever treatments he was going through, and the effects of his former lifestyle, it's not shocking that his heart may have given out.

Whenever you see a former addict look like hell, it raises concerns, and I'm wondering if that's what Dick was getting at. The cancer news would seem to explain a lot.

 

I didn't see the cancer news. I just figured he had a heart attack or something.

Why do we so often have to wait weeks for the toxicology and autopsy reports, but they knew so quickly with David Carr?
