RIP Claude Nobs, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival

    Nobs, 76, died today from injuries he received after falling while cross-country skiing.

    He was immortalized as "Funky Claude" in Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water" (tell me that riff isn't going through your head right now where it may remain for the rest of the day - or longer) after he saved kids from a blaze at the Montreux Casino which caught fire during a Frank Zappa show.

    Always wanted to go to the Montreux Jazz Festival. Maybe one day....
