After Pardee yesterday, that's two guys in two days who have been successful coaches in both college football and the NFL.

This one's being taken hard in Sooner Nation. Probably harder than it should be, since he didn't win a national championship there, lost the Game of the Century and got OU put on probation. The best thing he did was make Switzer his OC.

    Pardee, Fairbanks.

If I'm Jim Hanifan or Sam Rutigliano, I would avoid any strenuous activity for a while.

Gene Stallings might want to be careful too.

I remember Fairbanks' name coming up when Nick Saban left the Dolphins for Alabama. People pointed to Fairbanks, who left the Patriots for Colorado in the late 70s, as a cautionary tale.

Good thing Abe Vigoda never coached football.

Yeah but Pepper Rodgers did. He better not walk down any stairs anytime soon.

If you took the Paris News job, you'd certainly get to write about that. [/crossthread]

I'm sure, thanks in large part to Dan Hawkins, Fairbanks is probably only known as the second worst coach in Colorado history.

Might not Jon Embree join these folks in the "Colorado Hall of Shame - - Coaches' Wing? Overall record 4-21; conference record 3-15...

I'm sure he's there as well. Especially after whining about getting fired after a season where he won one game and lost to a FBS (I-AA) team.
