RIP Charlie Waters

    Although Charlie didn't work in Sports, he oversaw those who did and made them better, as this obit from the Fresno Bee indicated. There weren't many better mentors of young journalists anywhere.

    I'm sorry that this has been widely ignored.

    Waters was as good as they get in this business and mentored some of the best in the business, John Canzano, John Branch, Eric Prisbell, Andy Katz, Jeff Passan just to name a few. If you ask most of those guys the reason the Fresno Bee has been one of the best medium-sized papers in the country, most would point to Waters as a huge reason for that.
