    I always admired him while growing up.
    Then I met him in person and worked with him.
    The attitude changed quickly.

    The guy's deceased, all I'll say is the on-camera and off-camera persona weren't the same.

    My memory of charlie jones was hearing him on the late NBC games from the coast after Jet game ended. It would be about midway through the first quater and John Hadl would be dropping back to throw a pass to Lance Alworth .

    I'm not saying he wasn't a good announcer.
    Just sayin git was a big letdown when I finally got to meet him.

    Jim Simpson was the NBC play-by-play for that one.

    He and Gowdy were the voices of the AFL for NBC.

    Also, Mr. Fiesta Bowl. Called every game for NBC from 1979-93, save for one (Enberg, 1989).

    I always liked Charlie Jones' commentating. He is and will be missed.
