    Ouch. RIP Charley.

Thirty No. 1 country hits after being traded for a used bus in the Negro Leagues and working as a iron ore smelter in Montana. Easily the biggest Black country star ever.

"(Is Anybody Going To) San Antone" and "Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'" are absolute solid country gold.

I always loved this one. Simple song, but earnest.

Willie once kicked over a hornet’s best by kissing Charley on the cheek.

Streaks of six straight no. 1 singles and five straight no. 1 singles over a four year period. Four straight no. 1 albums. Few country singers have met or surpassed that kind of run. Few singers of any genre for that matter.

Country Gold on your late-night lonesome AM dial is the only place you’ll hear those these days.

My friends, I could not even imagine playing baseball while hearing impaired.

Probably the most famous Texas Rangers fan outside of W. Not too many of those around these days.

I'm actually surprised someone hasn't created a Country Gold format (other than SiriusXM). I'd think there'd be at least as much interest in the southeast and deep south as for other oldies.
