My bad. All the Krofft shows run together after a while. Speaking of Krofft, I very much love Saul Of The Mole Men on Adult Swim, a good parody of those shows.

RIP. A very funny man. Made the Match Game TV show. Also was a big hit in the Cannonball Run movie.

NPR had a nice bit on him this morning.

(Yeah, I was listening to NPR. Bad habit.)

Made the point, which may seem obvious to some, that he was never shy and retiring about his homosexuality.

Lost a sitcom job once in the early 1970s when a studio executive said he wouldn't hite a q___r to be on his show.

Pretty much had the last laugh, I think.

Was apparently a well-regarded acting teacher as well.

When I was ill a few months back and had a lot of time to tune in the Game Show Network to watch Match Game (Christ, it was like being seven again, down to the 7Up by my side), what struck were the number of obvious jokes Gene Rayburn made about Reilly's homosexuality. Except that back then, the jokes weren't obvious, because there was no such thing, at least among straight people, as gaydar.

  12. That voice. Oh that voice.
One of those memorable vocal tones that was easily recognizable.
I really enjoyed both he and Paul Lynde.
Note: Reilly was a much, MUCH nicer guy than Lynde. I just liked the voice.

    RIP the Dirty Bubble...
