    RIP to one of my favorite character actors. Loved his character in Evening Shade. Looking back that show had a pretty amazing cast in Burt Reynolds, Ossie Davis , Michael Jeter , Hal Holbrooke and Durning.

    Just saw him today on "State and Main." Never knew of his WWII heroics. Wasn't he also in "O Brother Where Art Thou?"

    I'm with Boom in admiring his work on "Evening Shade." great cast indeed. RIP to a pro.

    The final scene from Brian DePalma's Sisters where his character stakes out Margot Kidder's sofa from a telephone pole has to be one of the weirdest movie endings ever.
