I hope he and Chris Farley are discussing what goes in a mini-fridge.

All the roles pale in comparison to his work in "The Client."

Man, loved him just about everything he did - not many character actors can "open" a movie, but his name in the credits was usually a pretty good sign. He was hilarious in Semi-Tough, the perfect mix of loveable and menacing in Silverado and his bit in Tag? Damn.

He was good in a recurring bit part on "The Blacklist" fairly recently.

I remember when Gilbert Gottfried was a guest on Conan one night, like 20 years ago. He came out, started walking to his chair, pointed at Andy Richter and yelled “HEY! BRIAN DENNEHY!”

    Broke me up.

RIP. As alluded to previously, Dennehy seemed to a have impressive range. Guess I first remember him as Chevy Chase's cop-partner in Foul Play, also the bartender in 10.

The mentions of John Wayne Gacy remind me of Dennehy also portraying the town bully Ken McElroy in a made-for-television film. Folks in Skidmore, Missouri blew McElroy away while he sat in his pick-up truck. To my knowledge, no one has ever been convicted of a crime in connection with McElroy's death.

So good in Silverado. I think what made people like him as an actor, is that he seemed to embody the roles he played, whatever he was doing. Comedy, drama.

Dennehy and Richard Crenna brought thespian chops to the first Rambo flick.

Yeah, "First Blood" and "Silverado" did it for me. Dennehy at his best.

He had great screen intensity and charisma. It was hard to take your eyes off him.
