Former Brooklyn Dodger catcher and long-time manager. Famous for, among other things, being a teammate of Jackie Robinson, serving as first manager of the Atlanta Braves and being ejected from an independent league game in 2005, when he had just set the record for the oldest professional baseball manager in history.

Was one of five Southerners on the Brooklyn roster who opposed Robinson's promotion to the team in 1947. But he later told Larry King "Jackie Robinson made me a better man."

Died at 92 late Thursday. RIP.
