Like FileNotFound, I read his book and it had an impact. Read Darrell Porter's as well. We know how his life ended.

I was 12 and watched it too.

Didn't remember Kubek talking about Jackson throwing his bat into the dugout after the strikeout.

  5. Jackson got a measure of revenge in Game 6.

BTW, when you watch those 5 minutes, does playoff baseball today drip with same kind of intensity?

When was the last time there was a World Series as rich as that?

No. You're absolutely right on that.

I think some it it has to do with the new stadiums that put people
farther away from game and less focused on game due to other
distractions. The old stadiums like Fenway still have the intensity.

They killed the intensity at Yankee stadium by outpricing most fans
that would sit in "the horseshoe" of old stadium. Even in big games
now the core area of stands is quiet and empty. Half the crowd is
in eating sushi. It's never coming back and it's a huge loss for The Yankees.

Boom- I have been to minor-league ballparks with better atmosphere than New Yankee Stadium.
They neutered themselves with that place.

Same here. They killed the golden goose. In old stadium with 2 outs
and 2 strikes on visiting batter the entire stadium would be up and screaming
in old building. Stadium would literally be shaking. Now half seats are empty
or fans sitting on their hands or stuffing their face.
