He was on a boat on Lake St. Clair, near his hometown of Windsor, ON, when he collapsed. The Ontario Provincial Police haven't confirmed it's him, but Windsor radio is saying it is.

Wow, one of the few NHL guys I remember watching and enjoying to watch.

    RIP

A more talented John Kordic who also managed to live a few years longer.

    Still, RIP.

A lot of people remember him as a goon but he was a halfway decent hockey player

    RIP. So sad

I remember Probert for three things.

    1. Kicking Tie Domi's ass.
    2. Crashing his motorcycle while strung out on coke.
    3. Being the first pro athlete to sign an autograph for me.

I remember his much-hyped bout with Domi at MSG in 1992. The Rangers were even selling T-shirts with their heights and weights on it to hype it up, then they fought about 10 seconds into the game. The league fined both guys, and the Rangers, because they were flat-out promoting a fight.

    RIP to Probert.

Agreed....I watched a lot of Red Wings hockey and Probert could play the game, too. In fact I won some hockey pools by picking him strictly for his points.

It appears he lead a tortured life, by his own hand, but it's sad he died so young.

Domi looks like a midget in that clip.
