Longtime Cleveland Benedictine High School football coach Augie Bossu passed away early this morning. He was 91. He retired as Benny's football coach in 1994 as Ohio's all-time winningest head coach and still ranks fifth in the state. He also won 681 games as Benny's baseball coach.

Though he had retired as head coach of both teams he remained involved as coach of the freshman football team until 2005 and as JV baseball coach until 2001.

He was inducted into the National High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.

Augie Bossu was the pinnacle of coaching in Cleveland. Heck, probably the whole state. He might not be known to the masses, but some on this board will remember Augie Bossu.
