RIP Allen Lanier - Blue Öyster Cult keyboardist

    From the band:

    I was lucky enough to see him perform with BÖC before he left the band for good. He had a strange stage presence, but he was probably the vital element regarding the weird sci-fi ambiance that surrounded the band. Loved his work on

    He had a few good writing credits too.
    stands out the most.

    Such a shame this band - more or less - is only really known for the SNL skit these days. They were giants of heavy metal/hard rock in the '70s. Some of the music didn't age well - that's for damn sure - but they were really one of the first hard rock bands to go in some interesting directions regarding sci-fi, biker gangs and drug deals gone bad.
