You can never go wrong with this clip. SCTV at its absolute best.

The crazy thing about Jeopardy? The thing that makes the difference between someone getting on the show and not getting on the show (they all passed the same test) IS the contestant interviews - being someone with a fun, interesting and memorable anecdote that can be recalled in 30 seconds.

If Buzzy takes over, I'm out.

A guy I worked with passed the test easily. No shock. Guy is brilliant. Did the run-through they do afterward and didn't make the cut.
"They said I was too dull," he told me.
Welll, I said as politely as I could.
    Oh, I know, he said.

Too bad. He would have won all their money, Ken Jennings style.

A colleague at SI was a two-day champion and won 48K. Also brilliant but with a personality

Am I watching the same show as you guys? 90% of the contestants are duller than a doorknob. We watch to try to answer tough questions.

The interview part of the show is must-fast forward TV.

I'd be all-in with Buzzy as the host. He'd be a smart aleck hoot.

But I want Trebek as long as he can go.

If you are a middle-aged white guy - you really do need to bring something extra to the party. Those types grow on jeopardy trees. So have a quippy anecdote and be a "fun" person when you play - or a total jerk that stands out.

My buddy's son was on the show and won about $60k then proceeded to donate everything except some money to buy a chair for himself. Great selfless kid (well he's a father/husband).

If Ken Jennings doesn't step into the role, then I think Snoop Dogg should host.

Jeff Probst hosted Rock & Roll Jeopardy. What's he done since?

A game show host is one of those weird gigs where it pays off to have limited personality. The game is the star, the contestants are the star. Particularly Jeopardy - nobody watches for the host.
