    I tend to agree. I live to direct my charitable giving to very specific groups (typically Down syndrome/developmental disabilities community, in my case). My lone exception is a homeless guy in midtown to whom I give a dollar whenever I see him (several times a week). Just kind of adopted him because I walk by him every time I go to grab something for breakfast or lunch.

    Google "Salvation Army" and "gay" and you might see why some people refuse to give.

    I get giving to the homeless guy. You know the money is going where you intended.
