I guess those extra few HRs Rice collected the last 20 years put him over the top. No story yet, just this on the HOF front page.

As a friend just said on IM, this sets the stage for the greatest Hall of Fame induction speech ever.

Congrats to Rickey and Jim Rice.

I knew all those years I spent "fearing" Jim Rice would pay off someday. :D

    No Blyleven?

    No Shoeless Joe?

    Yawn.

    (Morris is getting closer.)

I'm glad I picked two winners.
On another note, wouldn't be a kick in the ass if MLB says Rickey goes in as a Yankee?

Did we really need an envelope and a piece of paper to announce two guys' names? That seems like such a waste. :D

It took the guy longer to figure out which camera to look at than to read the names.

Jim Rice on the phone right now on MLB TV. Actually sounds gracious ...

The voters were afraid to leave him out.

I'd like to get indignant about that, but I know full well I'll feel the same way if Blyleven ever gets in, so I'll agree to disagree civilly.
