Yeah, I agree with qtlaw in theory, but in this case I've got to go with Stoney.

There's no evidence Perry ever even referred to the property as N****r Head. If he was calling up his buddies saying, "hey, we're headed to N****r Head this weekend to go hunting, do you want to come," they'd have a case. They don't even attempt to do that.

The only thing in question is how long ago the rock was painted over and/or turned over. Different people have different memories. When discussing something like this that happened between 25 & 30 years ago, is that surprising?

Who knows, maybe some locals came and repainted the rock, leading Perry's father to eventually turn the rock over.

But, here's what really sucks about the Post story: they're basically accusing Perry of being a racist, they're just doing it in a passive, aggressive manner.

It's an article, not a column, so they can't come right out and say it perhaps, but they know what this article will lead to, so, why not investigate it further?

Why not look into whether this is indicative of a pattern of racist views, attitudes, and actions on Perry's behalf. Was it? I don't see any evidence that it was.

Why didn't they say, "because of this we decided to talk some of his friends from High School, from Texas A&M, and from his time in the Air Force to see if he harbored racist views and/or used the 'N' word."

But they didn't. Why? Were they afraid they wouldn't get the answer they wanted?

Some fucking rock on a piece of property he never owned had a racist word on it. It was painted over 25 to 30 years ago.

And that's what they're going to use to portray him as a racist?

The left really will stop at nothing to portray every single Republican as a racist.

  2. This is nothing and it is just a coincidence that Rick Perry's fantasy football team is named AfricanAmericanOralSex - just a coincidence.

Agreed. This is pretty hysterical or paranoid, or both. Nothing like nailing the head on the issues surrounding this country.

Yes, it sure is annoying when people paint with a broad brush.

Unlikely Perry quotes for October 4:

"For you folks who may not know your geography or history, it's pronounced 'nee-ZHAIR' and that rock was our local homage to the anticolonial independence movement in Central Africa back in 1960."

Isn't this story, like the Michele Bachmann migraines, originating from the right?
