Rhoden: The dragnet only hauls in the top black athletes.

I know, I know: You've read it a thousand times already. That's the problem with this guy -- he has absolutely nothing new to say. It's almost comical. You could have predicted that he'd lump these three athletes and spray-paint it as some kind of a racial issue. As far as I can tell, their problems had nothing to do with their race, but don't tell that to Rhoden.

    OK, Boom, dig in.

I was going to post this but was waiting for Boom to do his job.

This one is more absurd than usual.

On the other hand, maybe Rhoden can point out some high profile white athletes that deserve persecution.

Williams gives his clients common-sense advice: “Walk the straight and narrow, be wise about who you choose to have around you, and pay your taxes.”

Wow. Who would have thought this works?

    On an unrelated note...

My wife and I had a walk through of the hospital where she will giving birth to a little 93Devil in February. There were about 30 mothers-to-be there.

Only one mother was all alone. No spouse or person of support.

Only one mother was accompanied by her father, not the father of her child.

Only one mother's boyfriend (I can only assume, no rings on either) had guns, "keep a low profile," and "don't snitch" all over his coat.

They all had one thing in common.

I know Rhoden feel like he needs to fight this battle because there are so many people seemingly attacking, but this problem is just trying to be solved the wrong way, IMHO.

  5. And we're off, ladies and gentlemen.
This one should die right there.

Rhoden isn't nearly as predictable as the people who start these threads.

To play devil's advocate for Rhoden...

The worst gambler in pro sports I can think of, Art Schleister, is white.

The coach who got caught cheating is white.

And I forgot about Pete Rose.

Other than Bonds, haven't all of the roid/HGH heads been white or hispanic?

On a gut level, I think this is bs. Do I know as much? No. Honestly, research on the subject might very well bear Rhoden out. Either way, I'm inclined to classify this column as "somebody's gotta say it."
