Resume advice

Looking for some resume advice. I held a part-time gig doing as a marketing copywriter with a Gannett paper. Ended up covering major area flooding and shared a byline in the paper's major section the following day. Just curious how you would mention this in a resume considering it differs a lot from the work I did there.

Just to give you an idea, I work in sports information - so I am not necessarily gearing my resume to a newspaper gig. Any thoughts how this should look?

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Before the hounds come out, a question: was that one story/shared byline the only non-marketing thing you did during your time there? Or did you cover more news events?

    Yes, just one story.

I would include the clip among your other clips, and I would list it like this:

    Marketing Copywriter, Gannett Paper
    May-August 2007
    - Duties included writing copy, making coffee, picking up boss' dry cleaning.
    - Assisted with news coverage of Big Flood Event, August 15, 2007.

    Ah, screw it.

List: USA Today, 2006 disaster coverage team

If anyone questions it: Direct them to George O'Leary at the Univ. of Central Florida via Notre Dame.
