No one's holding a gun to your head forcing you to respond to him.

Moral victories don't count, but it's interesting that in a few months time this race went from an assured walk for the Republican candidate to essentially a 50-50 vote. Not that Scott Walker will care, but that's a pretty good sign what you've done is generating a political backlash. It also is clear that will help fuel recall movements, because the support is there.

Dan, I think you are right that Walker will not care. He won't care because he is honestly convinced he is doing the right thing.

It looks good on paper, but at the same time look at how many people showed up to vote against their best interests. That's also troubling in a way.

Yeah, I was thinking about this. But, as I understand it, the first matchup of the two candidates was in a "blanket primary." In that, Prosser won 55 percent of the vote and three challengers, including Kloppenwhatsis, won 45 percent. While it's fair to note that the needle moved closer to a 50-50 vote spit, it's important to remember that it's moving from that 55-45 baseline, not 55-25. No big surprise that all of the voters who voted against Prosser would swing to the opponent. And I do think the close margin was significant ... but I'd be careful in overstating that part.

I honestly don't think the margin of victory was significant. The Unions went all-in on this election, trying to paint a long-time incumbent judge as some kind of radical Republican. The unions were rebuked, and this is a pretty good indication that all the recall efforts (against Walker as well as the Republican state senators) are not going to work. If the Democrats would have approached this rationally they would be in better shape, but fleeing the state to avoid voting as well as some of the union thuggery has turned the public, as well as the independent voter, against the unions. They had a golden opportunity that they blew because they just could not act like adults.

By the way, here is a link to the report about the Patch site that reported the correct vote tallies on election night. This should stop the accusations of manipulation.

There you go with those facts again... :D

I'm sure the Patch reporter likes being listed as a "Huffington Post reporter"

Letter sent from Police and Fire unions:
    [To business owner by name]

The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor Walker's efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not respond to this request by that date, we will assume [sic] that you stand with Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining, please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the goods and services provided by your company [emphasis supplied]. However, if you join us, we will do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to preserve the right [sic] of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.

Now what is meant by a Police department or fire department "boycotting" a business? Guess that is left to the imagination.

How about a certain state senator telling another state senator she is "fucking dead" because of her votes?

    Here is a decent synopsis:

    Union backtracking:

This behavior has turned many in Wisconsin against the unions. Fairly simple to see.
