Interesting sidebar to this is that the local Patch site correctly reported the vote totals for the city in question on election tonight.

That, and the concurrence of the local Democrat officials, pretty much deflates the conspiracy theory ... blissfully, the conspiracy theorists will press on.

You are right about Clinton...he made quite a few conservatives irrationaly mad. And, yeah, the 1840's and 1850's probably weren't much of a picnic. I can imagine the 1860's weren't very fun, either, with one side pretty much dictating how things were going to be to the other side, a side that had recently suffered a pretty humiliating defeat. Good thing we had a great statesman like Andrew Johnson to preside over this era in history (I have no idea how to do the blue font, so I have to point out my sarcasm like this).

This has the makings of an Oliver Stone moving. Alllllll the makings for a conspiracy to commit fraud... except the actual conspiracy to commit the fraud.

She should be fired for being a bonehead. Not because she had any actual impact on the election (unless you count the drama).

Oh, and I got the sarcasm right away re: Andrew Johnson. The south had to love getting a confederate sympathizer in the White House so early.

Somebody better arrange bodyguards for Kloppenberg, quick.

I wouldn't call it a conspiracy, but I would like to see a recount if only because the error was so huge. Not that every other county has something like this (it's probably only a few votes either way), but you're going to need to recount every county or send in Richard Lugar and a team of international advisers or whatever just to assure everyone in the state that the count is right.

Anyway, you think this woman in Wisconsin is bad. Indiana elected, as secretary of state, a man who, it was already clear before the election, at the least couldn't figure out where he was supposed to vote -- quite a show of idiocy, considering he was running for the job of being the guy in charge of elections. As it turned out, the idiot in question, Charlie White, a few months into his term was indicted on seven felony counts related to vote fraud.

Clearly, a lot of people voted for the guy just because he had a Republican after his name in a Republican year (it probably didn't hurt that his opponent had the name "Vop Osili.") And, by the way, White was indicted by a grand jury in the heavily Republican county in which he lives, so this doesn't stink of any particular political payback.

In fact, Mitch Daniels has been begging for White to step down, because he's such an embarrassment. Of course, the guy won't. Actually, it's more than an embarrassment for Daniels. If White would resign, Daniels could appoint a successor. But now there is the possibility that White's whole candidacy could be invalidated, and that ol' Democrat Vop Osili would be declared the winner because he was the eligible candidate with the most votes. I would guess more than likely that this becomes a court clusterfuck for a while. Best thing for Daniels might be if White gets convicted -- soon -- which will force him by law to resign, and thus Daniels can appoint his successor.

That is called a coincidence. A red flag would be if the votes weren't tallied on election night by another outlet...which these were. This is why returns election night are not official...they have to take the time to make sure everything has been reported and counted. The system worked in this case. However, the idiot should lose her job.

Is it also a coincidence that she has a long history of ethical violations?
