Reporter repeatedly talking to own family on the air

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by DemoChristian, Sep 1, 2008.

  1. One of the on-the-scene reporters for CNN keeps sending shout-outs to his family that lives in Baton Rogue. At least twice I've heard him reference them and tell them he loves them and to be safe.
Am I the only one that finds this pretty self-serving and unprofessional?
If he's really that upset about them, he should go be with them. Otherwise, talk to them on the phone between shots or whatever, but shut up about it.
It makes it seem like they are more important than anybody else in the storm.

It's Don Lemon. He was sliced and diced here a few months back when he was covering the freak storm (tornado?) that went through Atlanta and damaged CNN Center.

I missed that. Why was he sliced and dice?

That's the thread Dyno is talking about. His live shots were brutal that night.

That's good stuff. The guy is obviously an idiot.
How did he get on the payroll at CNN?

You know you suck when you get replaced as a daily anchor on CNN by Ron Burgundy - oops, I meant Rick Sanchez.

You forgot the 'er' on reporter, DC.

I'm just glad I'm not watching that guy, I'd probably break my TV. And yes, he sucked ass in ATL.

There goes my streak of perfection which had lasted at least 10 years.
