    Looks like the latest gambit by the WB to try to induce Wolfowitz to resign willingly so the WB board doesn't have to vote to fire him

    I hear from sources inside the World Bank (seriously) that the aide resigning was more of a case of cutting him loose before an unrelated sex harrassment scandal erupted amid all this.

    The resignation is effective June 30. The reason for the extension is so Wolfowitz can receive a $400K bonus which is only due if he is the president after June 2, I believe. The extra time is probably a throw in for face saving and/or time to wrap up his tenure.
