I'm a huge Jazz fan (yea, yeah, I know it's odd considering I'm an even bigger Rockets fans) but I've always admired how they've played, their effort and their old-school ways of offense. So damn efficient.

This news completely ruins my day. Sloan was a throwback coach and embodied everything that was right about sports - discipline, loyalty, hard work, effort, no excuses. He will certainly be missed.

AP story: Team officials were expected to meet Thursday to discuss a postgame incident Wednesday involving Sloan and O'Connor, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

He already told Willie Beaman he was going to play in the second half.

That's about as big a Sybil moment as one can have...

Sounds like he's definitely out. His daughter said as much on a Facebook posting a good friend of mine shared with me.

Are we cross-threading the Ferris Bueller discussion?

The linked story said there have been 245 coaching changes in the NBA since he took over the Jazz.

Jeff Fisher out and Sloan out within a couple weeks of each other. Does this make Andy Reid the longest-tenured coach in pro sports?

    Well played.

    Save Jerry.

Longest tenure with one team is probably Popovich. He's been there since 96-97.

Those are the ones who usually become coaches. :D
