Rep. David Wu (D. OR) accused of aggressive, unwanted sexual encounter

    WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic Rep. David Wu of Oregon has announced that he is resigning from Congress.

    I keep hearing & seeing this referred to as a sex scandal. It's not. A sex scandal is between consenting adults.

    It suggests improprieties. Shenanigans.

    An aggressive and unwanted sexual encounter is a sexual assault scandal, not a sex scandal.

    Two more things. This happened "around Thanksgiving". The girl left a voicemail on the offices main line "a few months later".

    That's several months ago, no matter how you slice it. There are reports he confided to a couple of colleagues.

    Who knew about this, and when did they know? What was done about it? Why did it only come out now?

    Also, his resignation, according to his statement, will be after the "debt crisis" is resolved. That's bull shit. If he's not fit to serve, get him out now.
