Rental car fun

On the road yesterday, I picked up by far the ugliest rental car I've ever had: a pastel-yellow PT Cruiser. It's horrid. (For those of you with pastel yellow cars, no offense). I was pleased that the rental joint was out of midsize cars and had to upgrade me, as I do think the PT's aren't bad. But when I saw this color, whew. I would have gladly gone back and taken their smallest wind-up compact in a more innocent color.

So I get to the event I'm covering, and the guy who parks me asks if this was my own car. No way, I said. "OK," he says, "I think they were taking bets on you back at the gate."
