Reggie Bush is further screwed

Stand by Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, you're about to get the death penalty.

As far as the Heisman goes, if they strip it from Bush, I hope that Young, Leinart and the next 27 guys refuse to accept it, and they have to give it to some guy from Pensacola Christian.

And as far as the victories go, let them do it. And watch the USC fans say, "Yeah, Uh-huh. We lost all those games in 2004 and 2005. Ha-ha."

And when have they had opportunity or cause to consider it?

Technically, if the NCAA declares Bush ineligible for that season, he would not qualify for the Heisman that year, so there would be reason to strip it.

But I just don't see that happening.

Yeah, he's collecting an NFL paycheck on a large contract, so he's not screwed. But this bloodies his image, which could eventually eat into endorsement earnings. Also--and this is a longshot--but if USC pays a price for his having cheated--and they weren't a party to it--I would think they could sue him for damages. So yeah, he's not screwed, but this is the kind of thing he should be worrying about, at least a little.

Reggie's reputation might be hit a little bit but this really is not going to affect his pro career or endorsement deals. This will kill Pete Carroll and USC however.

Exactly. And Bush will continue to walk away from this, clean as a whistle, because the NCAA can't do anything to punish him. Though at USC, it's better to be named O.J. Simpson than Reggie Bush these days. They don't want anything to do with Bush these days, for obvious reasons.

Has OJ's Heisman been stripped? Other than his former in-laws getting the actual trophy?
    Didn't think so.
NCAA has nothing to do with the awarding of the Heisman Trophy. If OJ still has the title as 1968 Heisman winner (if not the hardware), no one is going to strip Bush.

Why would OJ's Heisman be stripped? He didn't (allegedly) kill people why he was in college. The analogy doesn't work for that reason, Hondo.

Was Marcus Camby hurt by the fact he took lavish gifts?
    What about The Fab 5?

The NCAA screws the kids. A free education is nice ... but not when you compare it to the millions the schools are getting. Just as we should look out for No. 1 on the job front ... college athletes should look out for No. 1 as well.

Damn, somebody already beat me to the "Cleveland State" punch. Nice work.

Point being, if OJ still has his Heisman, no one is going to get it taken away.
