Is this for real? Is this done?
That's the best they could do?

A sports writer who's never heard of Jim Zorn.

It's not a common name, nor in the league, either.

Fassel's won divisional titles and a conference title with the Giants. He's not a sexy name, but I think he's a pretty good hire--especially in a market that hasn't had any big name coaches that are looking for work.

Agree with that. He certainly has a better track record as a head coach than Gregg Williams.

But he always had a team quit on him once. And he's a loudmouth know-it-all who made some of the worst decisions you'll see on a football field.

That said, as an Eagles fan, I certainly hope he's the new Redskins coach this time tomorrow.

    He's not Herm Edwards.

Fassell is a loudmouth? Don't know if I'd go that route.

I presume he's talking about Fassel's infamous "chips all in" presser.

Having interviewed Fassel, I can tell you he's a very detailed-oriented coach. He's very intelligent and he holds players accountable. It's not as if Snyder hired Steve From The Street to coach the Redskins. He hired a guy who has had success in the NFL.

That's exactly what I was talking about. That's fine to talk about that stuff to your team, but to the media? Thanfully for him they backed him up.

And yes the Giants did quit....check Fassel's last year. That said he's not a bad coach. Not a good one either. But that's just my opinion.

I'd add Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment to this shortlist.
