The NFL mandates that coordinators be available to the media. But the Redskins got a waiver from the league; Greg Blache will open with a statement, then turn the thing over to DBs coach Jerry Gray, who will then field questions.

Ryan O'Halloran, a beat writer for the Times, is railing that this is a blatant violation of the spirit of the league's coordinator availability rule. Gray has previously been a DC.

What say you? Legitamite gripe or part of the game?

The NFL is saying they granted a waiver.

 

Blache is a terribly overrated coordinator.

 

What is the reason the NFL is giving for granting a waiver? If they are going to grant a waiver for any ol' reason, why even have the rule in the first place?

 

Maybe he can jump back into the room if he hears a real easy question. "I can take this one!"

 

Odd move, especially considering the defense isn't really the problem.

 

When you use the words "odd move" in connection with the Snyder-run Redskins, it's kind a redundancy.

Vague statements like this make you wonder the hell is going on. Does Blache have a health problem? Is there something horrible going on in his personal life? I mean, really, there must be a damn serious reason for Blache to do something like this. Otherwise, this is just the latest silliness from an organization that cannot do anything right.
